Vriesia
Red or orange or yellow briezia depending on availability, in a white case
Briesia is a tropical houseplant native to America
It belongs to the so-called epiphytes, this means that in Latin America, where it comes from, we will not see it growing from the soil, but hugging the trunks of trees with its roots.
In our country, however, we will find it in a pot with soil, decorating a corner of our house. It has oblong dark green leaves that form rosettes and flower bracts in various colors such as red, pink, orange and crimson.
The place we will give this plant should be in a bright or semi-shaded part of our house that will not receive direct sunlight and there will not be sudden changes in temperature.
The appropriate temperatures are from 16-20 C. It would also be ideal to have a sufficient humidity in the atmosphere with which our plant will do very well. The leaves of this plant, in the center form a rosette from where the flower grows, at this point you should pour water, preferably rainwater or distilled water, which you can also use for watering Vriesia.
We water Briesia when the soil will be almost dry from the last time we watered.
In winter we will need to reduce the frequency of watering compared to summer.
What we must mainly pay attention to in order to keep our Vriesia healthy is the water so that it is not excessive and causes rotting in the roots but also not too thin so that our plant finds itself in drought conditions which it does not tolerate at all.
